I have been collecting art for a number of years and I am a keen art lover. I would take any chance to vist galleries and view new and interesting works.
Before I retired I worked as a principal psycholgist in the NHS and had been thinking on my retirement of opening a gallery. I commissioned an artist to do a portrait and as a result of this we became friends. Having talked to my artist friend and others in the art scene I decided to "take the plunge".
I recently managed to procure a retail space in Parnie Street, Glasgow. The street itself was well known for its galleries, but sadly over the years they have all but disappeared. However, there is an artistic hub developing in the Saltmarket area of Glasgow and I am pleased to say Doyle Art will be part of this exciting new development.
The aim of the gallery is to show a rich eclectic mix of work by emerging and established artists, ceramists, and jewlery makers.
Finally, I am excited about this new venture and look forward to meeting many more creatives as well as visitors to the gallery and to develop it into whatever direction it takes.
